Re: 69 Mustang Disc Brakes into 64 Comet
I personally don’t know but you may want to check with Dan over at chockostang, he has much knowledge on these things. I bought my disc brake setup for our 66 Comet from him.

Re: Vin locations, spark plugs, battery
They should be fine, I’m going to check with my friend Doug, see what he’s using. I posted pics of the fender vin on mine (above), hopefully you can see yours without removing too much. Update: My Comet guru said the big block (bb) battery tray is different than the sb tray, he uses the group 27, sa...

Re: Vin locations, spark plugs, battery
Welcome to the site, and congratulations on your find, very hard to find those models. Pics and location would be nice. VINs should be under both pass/driver fender, about a foot or so back from the headlight. You’ll have to lift up the fender slightly (undo a couple fender bolts) to see them. At le...

Re: Project save the Comet
Welcome! Great to see another 66 being worked on. Looks like that car was loaded up pretty good from the factory from what I’m seeing under the hood, power steering n brakes, ac….. I can’t tell, but would venture to say it has an automatic (C4) transmission, looks like it has most of the stuff under...

Re: Building my 65 Comet
I’m sure you have waaaay more experience at welding than I do, it’s really only been a couple years for me using a welder. I do have, and did start with a cheaper shielded wire machine and then purchased a migmax 215 from HF, seems like a pretty good unit. I’m using a smaller bottle, bought it outri...

Re: Building my 65 Comet
Yeah it’s getting much warmer here in Alabama, I’m hoping to get back on the body of our 66. I hear you on the body work, but whenever I do anything on an old ride, it’s more enjoyable for me, I call it my therapy. Turn the tunes on, make sure the beer frig has some beverages and have at it… Lou (on...

Re: Building my 65 Comet
Wow, I’ve seen some crazy stuff done on body repair, and admit, done some myself years ago, but never roofing tar 😳 What you going to treat the underside with, I’m still looking for something to use under the fenders and wheel wells. Been spraying Picklex20 on the outside sheet to preserve it until ...

Re: Hood bow, how to fix?
How’s the shrinking disc used, haven’t heard of that method. Ok, I watched a couple YouTube videos on the disc, interesting, and does take time. It would probably work on my fender dents, but I don’t think it’ll work on the hood, the structure/bracing underneath is in the way to work the slapper and...

Re: Building my 65 Comet
Lots of work, don’t know if I could get that deep into one again, but you’re dealing with it. I did some drip rails years back on a 64 Nova, but had a donor car, made it much easier.

I was interested, but have to pass, other priorities. I started a thread in the Comet Lounge section if you care to see some responses on it.

Knoxville TN here’s a Comet Convertible for sale
Thanks Jim, Groover. I’ve text back and forth with him, he seems pretty straightforward on what he knows about the car, and has sent more pictures and a video of a walk around with it running. Engine sounds good and overall it looks fair with the sheet metal, I’m sure there’s bondo in the rear area....
