Re: Front Springs

Thanks everybody,
I'll check the ride height both sides before I decide what to do.

Front Springs

G'day, See the attached photo: There is a block in the front LH spring as per the photo. It is firm in the spring but not wedged in tight. The LH end seems to have been broken off something but I'm not sure. I don't know if it is road debris that has managed to get stuck in there. Just like some opi...

Re: 1966 Comet Cyclone GT Convertible Indy Pace Car verifica

G'day, My 66 matches your VIN and I understand that the 28 is the pace car number. Mine has unpowered front drum brakes since upgraded with booster, 4 speed which looks original and black interior which I suppose might not be original. Something I can't see in your photo is any engine bay braces. Mi...

Re: 66 Cyclone Gt Convt

Hi again, Frame 1 photo is of the two holes behind the rear spring hanger. They are not threaded as I first thought but are in the underside of the frame and have 3/8" plate reinforcing inside the frame. The round hole is about 3/4" diameter and the oblong one is about 1 3/4" long and 3/4" wide. Fra...

Re: 66 Cyclone Gt Convt

Hi again,
Thanks for the photo, explains a lot.
Mine has a large threaded hole in the bottom of the frame behind the rear spring hanger as well.
I'm not sure how clear that is in my earlier photo.
Is that also part of the weights or something else?

Re: 66 Cyclone Gt Convt

Hi again, I have attached part of an article from Motor Trend Feb 1990 edition. Hopefully I haven't breached any copyright issues. I'm not sure exactly what the flag brackets were but it seems only the 33 pace/parade cars had them. I'm still not sure if the studs and threaded hole in the frame are t...

Re: 66 Cyclone Gt Convt

Stacy, Looks good. Mine is a 28 but the only number I have is on the radiator support bracket. The other plates were removed for painting and never replaced so I don't know what the original interior was or even if the transmission is original. Given how cars were assembled in those days any mixture...

Re: 66 Cyclone Gt Convt

Hi there, Thanks for the welcome. I am trying to identify my 66 GT Convertible. A couple of questions: Did all GT Convertibles have bracing from firewall to the front of the engine bay? I have seen photos of lots without this and it doesn't get mentioned in shop manuals or brochures. My car has 3 th...

Re: 66 Cyclone Gt Convt

Hi everybody,

I have a 66 Cyclone GT convertible, would love it to be a pace car but who knows.

Definitely fun car to drive.

Would like to attach a photo but couldn't manage it.
I'll keep trying.
