Re: 61 comet Painting the black parts with?

I did some more googling and found that it appears the black they used for 1961 comet and other vehicles was called Presidential Black, code M1724. For my car the black is a wide strip just below the door windows , inside, and the inside door frame, the metal part of the dashboard, the panel the rad...

61 comet Painting the black parts with?

What paint are ya's using to paint the black parts, like the headlight buckets and the wall the headlight buckets mount to? I believe the original was some sort of lacquer paint. the parts that have some good paint left shine up to a real nice gloss. I also have black on the inside doors above the d...

Re: 61 Headlight Mounting

I have a 1961 Maintenance Manual, and it really doesn't have any good photos of how the head lights are mounted. Is there something specific
you needed to know? I have a 1961 sedan and am currently refurbishing the headlight buckets.

Re: 61 comet headlamp bucket grommet

well at this point i could not locate any original metal rubber coated grommets so I got some simple rubber ones from Lowes. Not like anyone
is going to see them.

61 comet headlamp bucket grommet

Anyone have a good source to replace the rubber coated metal wire grommet in the headlamp bucket? I'd repair and re-coat the ones i have
except the metal has delaminated apart. Thanks.

1908 Holley single carb gasket question

Hopefully easy question to answer,
Is there suppose to be a gasket on the top of the carb between it and the bottom of the air filter housing assembly?
my shop manual doesn't show one, but thought i would ask here. (1961 comet. 144 engine.)
thanks.

61 Comet base, 144cu. carb spacer replacement

One of the heater hose connectors on the carb spacer is deteriorated to the point where I don't feel safe trying to clamp a hose on it. I don't know if this car has the original carburetor or not, but I cannot find an identical spacer that does not have this little channel on top near the opening li...

61 Comet base, 144cu. Fan Belt Size

Probably a dumb question, but what size fan belt am I looking for? I have the shop manual and no where does it say the fan belt size.
I have ordered 2 so far, ,supposedly for this car and they are too big. Google searches have sizes all over the place.

61 comet, 144cu, 2 speed trans. transmission fluid question

I have a 61 comet 4 door. 2 speed trans. Hasn't run in probably 30 years maybe. Should I change out the trans and converter fluid? If so the shop manual says to use 'A' type fluid. I can't find it. I assume they don't make it anymore? what is the best equivalent? OR, should I just leave well enough ...

61 comet, sedan 144cu. Fuel line replacement question

How in the heck do you get the old fuel line out in one piece? And more importantly how do I get the new pre-bent in? Most of the line is easy until the large sharpish bends near the start of the drive shaft and emergency brake wires. i can always cut the old line out, but I figured I need to get th...
