Re: Chrome Polish

Joe, I have used just about every brand out there including Flitz and Semichrome both of them work well. Then I discovered this stuff, https://dura-coating.com/collections/all/products/blue-premium-metal-polish-16oz It is by far the best I have used for chrome and aluminum. It is not inexpensive bu...

Re: Chrome Polish

Running very short on good chrome polish & supplier has left the planet. What are best choices out there to clean up minor pitting & add shine? Looks like MEGUIARS is big now like Mothers was few decades ago. Big may not be the best. Joe Joe, I have used just about every brand out there including F...

Re: What were they thinking ???

I saw the metal fabrication videos a while ago, the workmanship is phenomenal. At that time I thought it was going to be a restoration but obviously the outcome was far from what I thought it would be. Most everyone who owns a Comet has it because they like the way it looks, I can see some subtle ch...

Your too polite. It is way past ugly. It would look much better with a car cover on it!

What were they thinking ???

I posted this under the ‘65 ‘65 Comet thread but I’m really not sure what it is!
My guess is that at one time it was a ‘64 Caliente!

Re: 1965 Comet Caliente (little red)

I believe I have expressed my opinion on stance in previous posts. I also have an opinion on air shocks and their use to raise the rear of a leaf spring equipped vehicle. Leaf springs support the weight of a vehicle in four points that were designed to carry the weight and suspension action, when ai...

Re: Old acquaintance needs help.

I would think ( but not positively sure) that early Mustang small block headers would fit with minimal tweaks. Being a ‘64 the steering will be an issue and should be changed to the ‘65 Comet ( Mustang) design. When I installed the Boss engine in my Cyclone I used headers for an early Mustang with a...

1964 Cyclone auction?

Saw this in Utube, the first car is a replica Cobra but half way through the video is a Cyclone that has a Cleveland and narrowed rear. I looked at the auction site and could not find any information.

Re: It became official, overnight!!

Same here in SE Wisconsin. Lite snow that might accumulate to 3”, it will be in the 40’s tomorrow and most of the weekend so I do not plan to plow or blow it even though I now have the equipment to make it easier. https://rammy.fi/en/rammy-snowblower-140-atv/ Everything is put away until spring exce...

Re: In search of a 64 Cyclone tach

I have a ‘64 tach that I acquired back in the ‘70’s, I have never used it so I do not know if it is in operating condition. It includes the tach assembly, cup, mounting stem, and stainless trim for the back of the cup. The wiring has been cut about 6” from the tach. The face of the tach is in very n...

Re: TIME TO TRY AND UPDATE FORUM AGAIN

Should we limited our Postimage links in upcoming posts to save memory space on the forum? Is there other ways to conserve space? How do we make a donation to help support the forum?

Re: Finally building my 64 Comet

Really like the Lites but black and low would be my choice. I agree sassy, do you think semi-gloss black or gloss black? My choices would be 1. Leave the Super Lites. 2. Wimbledon white to match the car, stock hub caps, deeper than stock dish wheel 3. Satin black, stock hubcaps, deeper than stock d...

Re: Finally building my 64 Comet

You can use 64 V8 spindles if you use 64 outer tierods. Adjusting sleeves are the same. So all I would have to change essentially is the pitman arm, the center link, and the inner tie rods? Confirm your pitman arm shaft is 1 1/8”, also you will need a ‘65 style idler arm, it mounts in the existing ...

Re: Finally building my 64 Comet

So it probably has a 1 1/8" sector steering box, best you check. In which case I'm pretty sure what you'll need a power steering pitman arm from a later 67-8 Mustang, AFXJim knows for sure. Yes I know you want manual steering, the above pitman makes it work. Yes if you have a 1 1/8” sector shaft yo...

Re: Root's 64 Cyclone Build

It’s possible that the shock absorbers are limiting the travel of the springs. Try disconnecting the bottom shock mounts to see if the housing will drop enough to install the tire/ wheel assembly. I have no issues with mine and it’s a 2.75-60.
