Re: Clutch Pedal Return Movement
Do you recall the name of the vendor from whom you bought the cable conversion kit? The firewall penetration for the cable setup in your car is similar to my configuration. However, the two vendors that I have found, MDL and Scott Drake, offer conversion kits that penetrate the firewall much closer ...

Re: Clutch Pedal Return Movement
Thanks for the information and advice. My cable passes under the support bar and then down to the clutch, passing close to the header (less than an inch). So, I suspect that an overheated cable might be the source of the binding. That being written, I did find a replacement cable kit from MDL that i...

Clutch Pedal Return Movement
My car has a cable type clutch actuation system. Yesterday I noticed that the pedal was not returning to its fully disengaged position after use. Thus, the clutch was not fully engaged, and it slipped when I pressed the gas pedal. By "lifting" the pedal with my left foot, the clutch fully engaged, a...

https://i.postimg.cc/Dyb05pKp/bellcrank.jpg Bellcrank for accelerator linkage, mounts on intake manifold. You can wiggle the top of the arm to see if the bracket is worn where the pivot rod rides (red arrows). Also check the bracket the pedal rod rides in that's mounted on the firewall. Mine rocks ...

Re: Fast Idle Cam Sticking?
Check the accelerator linkage for any binding or slop. Are you using old stock bellcrank or has it been modified? Joe I am not sure of what a bellcrank linkage is. Excuse my ignorance. The linkages move manually without any resistance that I can sense. Plus the linkage movement feels tight, not slo...

Re: Rear Tire Rubbing the Wheel Well
I did contact John. He sent me a source for rubber bushings. I will try those and see what results I get.
Thanks for the advice and John's contact. He was helpful; much appreciated.

Fast Idle Cam Sticking?
I have a Summit Racing 600VS carb on my 302. The last few times that I have driven my car, I noticed that the engine came off fast idle late according to engine temperature (engine at 160 and still at 1400 RPM). I gun the engine, and RPM drops to curb idle, 900 RPM. But sometimes I gun the engine an...

Re: Rear Tire Rubbing the Wheel Well
The bushings are clearly worn and deteriorating. Now looking for replacements, but I am only certain about the shackle bushings available from Energy Suspensions be correct fit. I found a lot of bushing replacement kits, but I am uncertain about fitment for the spring eyelet bushings. Does anybody h...

Rear Tire Rubbing the Wheel Well
My 65 Caliente coupe has a worsening rubbing problem on the rear driver's side. Sporadic at first, now more frequent and very noticeable. I have 15 inch rims, slight positive off set, maybe 4 inch backspace and 8 inch width (dimensions are a guess as I have not removed the wheel and tire to get exac...

Re: New Member - Georgetown Texas
Welcome to the forum Jerry. Beautiful ride, and having a 55 Nomad prior, also areal nice classic. Thanks. I bought my Nomad in 1985 for about $4,000. It had a 302 in it with a Holley 4V, Edelbrock intake manifold and dual exhausts. No headers. 4 speed on the floor with a Hurst shifter. Made some fi...

Disc Brake Conversion
I intend to convert from drum to disc brakes. Question is: should I convert both front and rear or just the front? I will install a dual reservoir master cylinder regardless. I want better braking capability but given that I don't drive this car in high levels of traffic, perhaps the front conversio...
