Re: 260 Tripower

I’m going to have to, the fellow has a lot of useful information. The Comet runs fine with the current Holley 4bbl. I don’t have any practical reason to change. Want more of a hot rod look is what it amounts to. My old 58 corvette had 2x4 and my 68 Camaro had 3x2 so the single 4bbl just doesn’t feel...

Re: 260 Tripower

Ok I found out how to turn on the video. Duh. Lots of info. I did change the fuel bowl on the center carb have to go back and compare the sight hole level with the original.

Re: 221 or 260

I am by no means an expert but according to the Bob Manell book on small block Ford engines that pulley adapter would be found on the 221.

Re: 260 Tripower

Nice work and progress but that 260 doesn't really need that amount of fuel IMO... But it looks So cool ! Shelby perfected the 260/289 induction system with a F4B intake, a mild Cam and a the 465 CFM Holley. I duplicated this on my 260 & 289 setup. Runs great! https://i.imgur.com/Zwd2CJah.jpg Engin...

Re: 260 Tripower

Definitely a question that needs to be asked. I’ve done a lot of reading on this. Back in the early 60’s Ford sold a tripower setup specifically for the 260. It had two Holley 2868 carbs front and back and a Holley 2867 center carb with choke. Both with 1-7/16” throttle bore and 1” venturi. What I h...

Re: 260 Tripower

Looking real good! Are you sure having all the carbs open at the same time will not flood the engine with fuel? I had a Ford tri power with Holley carbs on my ‘71 Comet GT, 302, mild cam, headers, 4 speed, I set it up with progressive linkage and it worked perfectly. I think having them set up to o...

Re: 260 Tripower

I wasn’t very clear. It is progressive. What I meant was that when the middle carb is full open the end carbs are also. Had to fiddle for a while to get there. The end carbs start to open at about 1/2 throttle.

Re: 260 Tripower

Finishing touches. Throttle return spring and bracket. Adjusted idle mixture screws and idle speed screws according to factory manual. Synchronized carbs so all three full open at same time. Now that the weather is warm and dry I have a large backlog of outside chores to do so will be a while before...
