Re: Seat Track Nightmare
Thanks for the post poboy. I ended up bending a square in it to take up the slack. My Comet came with a box of 'junk' in the trunk. I went through it and found ONE 13190 shim, so it looks like it had them originally and the PO saved one and tossed three. Seat is now working OK, don't know if it is w...

Re: Root's 64 Cyclone Build
Did they give you an idea of how many HP will be available at the rear once your non-rear loads are taken into account? How many HP do you figure the rearend you have ready is good for? Oh, BTW, I pulled my plugs yesterday and #3 wasn't firing (ceramic was shattered and fouled). No idea how that hap...

Re: Radiator Coolant & Rear-end Lubricant
Thanks. I bought some old-fashioned antifreeze from O-Reilly's. There are very few brands of that left, BTW.
Hoping your Comet is coming along, and once mine is back on the road I'd like to stop by with it and check out yours.

Seat Track Nightmare
I hope someone can help me with this. When I got my Comet the front seat did not adjust right at all. I took it all apart when I had the seats recovered. I'm trying to put it back together and make it work right. It is a bench seat with a solid back (some Comets have bench seats with split backs). I...

Radiator Coolant & Rear-end Lubricant
I drained the coolant from my Comet right after I got it so I could replace the heater box. The coolant was a sickly yellowish color. I don't intend to put that stuff back in; I might even need to flush the system. Searches tell me to make sure I don't use modern antifreeze. I remember back in the 6...

Re: 61 144cid. automatic Head Bolts torque
The 1964 Comet service manual says for the 6 cylinder to leave them alone.
Page 8-28, step 6:
"After the cylinder head bolts have been torqued to specification, the bolts should not be disturbed."
I doubt that the 1961 torque procedure is different from the 1964 for the same engine.

Re: Looking for a 1964 Comet Radio
The right radio (4TME) popped up on eBay and I grabbed it immediately. It needed some work, but I got it working and installed it. 1964 Comet radios are unique - don't listen to eBay ads that give a range of vehicles and years. If it's not a 4TME or F4TBE then don't waste your money. I have two othe...

Re: Shift Arm To Shift Tube Mating
Looks like the cause of my issue was not what I thought it was. And thank goodness I stumbled onto the actual cause before I pulled the steering column, so I'll describe it and hopefully I can help someone else in the future. The REAL problem keeping me from pushing the shift tube all the way in was...

Shift Arm To Shift Tube Mating
Comet 202, Automatic transmission, column shift, 200 6-cyl The shift tube pulled up enough to let the shift arm come out of the bottom of the shift tube. IOW, turning the shift tube no longer changes which gear the AT is in. I tried wiggling the arm around while my wife pushed on the sleeve with no ...

Re: AOD swap
TCI doesn't change the transmission support, right? Just the motor mount? So since the angle is what's changing that won't translate to a whole inch at the transmission. Let us know how it works out - maybe an inch at the mounts will be 1/2 inch at the bell housing.

Re: AOD swap
Due to your TCI raising the engine, I can't be sure, but I am sure the larger bell housing (covering the lock-up torque converter) will fit without the TCI. Mine has a C5, same size bell housing, and it fits. My biggest issue was the kick-down linkage. I also had a little trouble with the Neutral-Pa...

Re: Dash Speaker Holder
Thanks!
Drains? So spillage doesn't get on the speaker unless you spill it right on the speaker? Huh, that never occurred to me. My thought was just that screwing the plate down using the two holes in front of the notches would be more rigid and less likely to vibrate than tabs.

Re: ‘64 Convertible on BAT
Looks nice. Currently $15000. Except I would have kept it Polar White. Just me, sorry.
If I ever got my cherry 202 sedan re-painted (Hey! Who's that snickering in the back??) it would be white, preferably '64 Dodge white so it doesn't stand out too much.

Dash Speaker Holder Created & Installed
I created a panel to fit over the original '64 Comet dash speaker, between the defroster ducts. I didn't drill any new holes in the dash. I painted the steel panel flat-black so there wouldn't be any shiny reflection through the grill. Panel Test Fit: https://cuamps.com/64Comet/1_NewPanelMockup_600x...

Re: Re-Wiring Diagram?
I appreciate your concern, Jim. My changes were so complete that there are no fuses under my dash. The new light switch I installed contains a new auto-breaker for the headlights. The power for the park/turn signal lights runs from B1 through a dash-mounted aircraft circuit breaker (the kind that po...
