Re: Six Bolt Toploaders

They are getting hard to find. Mustang builders have been hoarding parts for decades, now. I know one locally. Joe Dan Williams told me he is sold out and he is no longer making the new universal ones. David Kee is having trouble getting the universal ones he offers too. Recently there was an early...

Re: Six Bolt Toploaders

Yeah I am into my toploader for a solid $2500 (maybe more) minus the $1000 shifter. Bought a junker from Facebook marketplace, kept the main case, shift rods and detents. Rest is 100% new (most from David Kee) except the tailshaft housing. Spent $400 for a Mustang one on eBay that had the bosses (cu...

Re: Replacing Front Shock Hats with 65-66 Mustang

Damping action. The scale gets trapped in the valve and creates an open flow path.

Re: Replacing Front Shock Hats with 65-66 Mustang

Be careful welding different mounts to the base cup and or reserve tube on those twin tube shocks. You will likely form some scale on the inside if you are putting enough heat into them to get weld penetration. This scale will eventually become dislodged and get trapped in the base valve or piston v...

Re: Root's 64 Cyclone Build

I use a stud installation tool or double nut and run them to the bottom of the hole and jam them home.

No, I used the studs supplied with the spacer.

As I look at the pics closer, yep, Rootsy is right, would have to look at it real good. Rust up north tends to be a big problem. It would still be worth going to look at IMO.
Fuzzy only lives 7 miles from me so it is an easy look.

Re: 1965 Black Two-door Caliente

Call me cheap but I am not sure I would pony up $7k for a car with rotted out quarters cause God only knows what the floors look like. And figure another $5k for a motor If you want to do anything sporty with it.

But if you want to go look at it give me a call I will go with you.

Re: Root's 64 Cyclone Build

I have Moroso ultra 40 wires that I made and used 120 degree boots. Don’t seem to have any clearance issues. Other than getting a hand in there to make sure they are clipped onto the plug terminal.

Re: Root's 64 Cyclone Build

Buttoned the engine back up after getting headers in place. Added a phenolic 1” spacer between carb and intake. It likely won’t have any negatives. The RPM intake seems to generally respond well to a 1” open spacer. This pro-systems carb though uses a 5/16 thread for air cleaner stud. So I grabbed a...

Re: Root's 64 Cyclone Build

Alas header installation. All installation is done from under the car so getting it high enough in the air is important. The drivers side was not bad, just jack the engine up and it goes in without much issue. Even with these TFS cylinder heads with the thick flange. Somewhat tight around the idler ...
