So I got the run and window out--new problem, window channel is toasted by rust / the piece is detached that the regulator roller glides in. If anyone knows a repro source for those, please let me know. Not having luck finding them yet. May have to get one fabricated.
cheers

Re: securing window glass
Finally getting back to this--can't seem to get the rear window run out--manual says to pull it down then angle it toward the rear of the door, but I can't get it to move, even with the adjusting screw pushed through the hole. Any suggestions? I can't quite see how it fits in at the top, so wonderin...

body assembly manual
Quick question to anyone who has one--if I have the '61 shop manual and 62-3 supplement, does the separate 1963 body assembly manual contain enough additional information to make it worth buying? Thanks https://www.faxonautoliterature.com/1963-Falcon-Futura-Ranchero-Sprint-Comet-Body-Assembly-Manual...

Re: 61 Comet gas tank replacement question
I did mine ('63) a few years ago, and as you've been cautioned, the 16 gal tank didn't clear the muffler, but the 14 gal version did (in the pic you'll see the passenger side--where the drain plug is--slopes in toward the bottom, creating room). 14 gal is more expensive unfortunately. don't know why...

Push rod jumping out of place
Motor is a '65 200 ci, non-adjustable rocker arms Last month the motor sounded like a cylinder had gone, and after a compression test identifying #6 I pulled the valve cover and found a push rod had jumped out from under the rocker arm. Push rod appeared straight and rocker arm was moving freely. I ...

Re: securing window glass
Thanks guys. I'll get back to this issue after I finish the heater rebuild and work out the more troubling development of a pushrod jumping out from under the rocker arm (gonna start another thread about that one). Cheers

securing window glass
I was trying to free up the window mechanism in the rear door of my '63 with a little lubricant and the glass came out of the cradle (not sure what else to call it) at the bottom--the u-shaped rail the glass sits in. I reseated it so I could close the window until I have time to disassemble--once I ...

Banged my head against the trunk when it became clear the 16 gal replacement gas tank doesn't fit well. Doesn't clear exhaust, and filler neck doesn't line up with filler pipe...
Lord I love her after 19 years but why can't it ever be as simple as unbolting the old and bolting in the new?

Re: 60 comet gas tank
I also got the 16 gallon tank from here. http://www.mustangsunlimited.com/itemdy00.asp?T1=F28B+01 I would contact them because they also have a kit which includes the sending unit and filler hose. Beware though, my filler neck on the tank was not exactly in the right spot so getting that filler hos...

Re: gas tank install--what sealant?
Thanks guys I found a Mustang forum recommending 3M strip caulk--which I think is pretty much the same stuff you guys are recommending, black and super sticky, used for mounting/sealing body parts. I got some for $15 though most places don't carry it. The BIGGER problem is the 16 gal tank I ordered ...

gas tank install--what sealant?
Looking for advice on mounting a new gas tank. Need to know what kind of seal to use between the tank and the flange? Got one suggestion of silicone on the flange, a strip of felt, then another layer of silicone between felt and tank. Original shop manual says "caulking cord" (that tar/rubber stuff ...

strut rods
About to replace strut rod bushings on my '63. Hoping threads on the strut will come out ok, but in case they don't, anyone know whether replacements are available? Tried Mac's, Dearborn and a couple other places but not seeing the actual strut rod (only bushing kits) for '63.
thanks
