Re: front disc brake conversion on 65 comet, with power brake

I went with the CSRP manual kit also and it definitely does not feel like a modern power brake system but even driving hills I do not have a problem. I also have the manual rack and pinion steering which is a bummer in parking lots due to the increased turning radius.

Re: To relay or not relay ..that is the question

My Comet is a 65 and I just rewired it. I did not use a relay for the wiper or the horns and they both work. The wiper switch is difficult to figure out the wiring but I did not use a relay nor did Ron Francis recommend one.

Re: 66 Cyclone Dash wiring question

In picture number 2 it looks like the constant voltage regulator. I believe it drops the voltage to 5V. I had mine (65 Comet Caliente) hooked up incorrectly after rewiring and my oil pressure and fuel gauge went all the way to the right, once I hooked the regulator back up they operate properly. Hop...

Re: Wiper switch wiring

It has two knobs. There was a hose going to the switch but it was not hooked up to anything. I am so excited after replacing the harness I just got the car running again. YAY!! The wiper switch is the last thing to do before putting the gauge pack back in and driving. Thanks for your help. Trent

Wiper switch wiring

Its been a while since I have been able to work on the Comet but now that it has warmed up in the Northeast I have been installing the Ron Francis wire harness. It has been going OK but the Wiper switch is giving me fits, It has six connections on it and I cannot find a wiring diagram that has the s...

Re: Cooling system

I was thinking the 3 row champion with a flexalite 16" low profile fan. I had read about the filter and am going to take that advice.

Thanks for the advice.

Cooling system

The snow has started to fall here in the North so it is time to have a different kind of fun and start preparing for next spring. I am ordering a Ron Francis wire harness and I want to get the cooling taken care of at the same time. I have a 65 Caliente with a 289 that has a small cam of unknown ori...

Keep the pictures coming. I am about a month away from starting my re-wire and have decided on the Ron Francis kit also.

Thanks,

Re: what did you do to your comet today?

Just got finished installing a disc brake conversion on the front of my 65. I used the csrp kit and it was amazingly complete. It even had loctite and grease. The only thing I had to buy was two new master cylinder bolts. It has never stopped so good. which kit did you get? manual? or power? Manual...

Re: Strange knocking noise while coasting

Thanks for all the help. I have good news. For $90.00 the local driveline shop sold me two u-joints and installed them. For future reference the part numbers are NE 1-2173 and NE 1-3600. I hope that helps somebody else in the future. I went out around 9 last night with a flashlight and installed the...

Re: Strange knocking noise while coasting

Thanks Lou. I gave up and dropped the shaft, yoke and old joints to the local driveline shop. I will see what they come up with. When I come up with a solution I will post the part numbers for anybody else that fights this problem in the future. On the good side my new CSRP disc brakes are on their ...
