hello Wifescomet, I was installing my MC today & I had to cut nearly 1/2'' off the adjustable pushrod to make it work.it wouldn't adjust short enough.

so this is most likely your trouble! :wink:

Add about 5'' to that for the axle flange to axle flange (wheel to wheel) measurement . 64-65 comet would be about 53 from backing plate to backing plate ,or housing flange to housing flange. I can tell by looking it is too long for a comet.I think he just stuck the tape on the outer part of the bac...

yea Roy but the rad support looks like it has an indention for the single bucket like a falcon's rad support, 65 comet rad supports dont have that.

Kinda weird that the 66 comet has single headlight buckets on the rad support but the car has stacked headlights. :? I wonder if they cars are actually like that??

A little juggling? we had one member who drove to Canada from Minnesota , during a snow storm, bought his old comet back from 20 years prior,brought it home, shined & tuned on it until june , loaded it & the family up & drove to TN. for the gathering, stopped at beach bend & raced it on the way home...

I don't think cyclones had the trim at all. not sure about the rest of the models. I love your car just like it is, I wouldn't change a thing! except maybe it's home address! :lol:
