Re: Brake lines
Lou,3/16 to the back is what I have always used. The stainless can be tough to flare and tough to avoid leaks, even in factory prebent lines. Take a look at these... https://www.amazon.com/Parker-Degree-Fitting-Flare-Gasket/dp/B075F8P4ZN?th=1 Totally eliminates the heartache of brake fluid leaks.Reall...

Re: fender extension
Thanks Lou! Saw one on eBay that's looks ok but pics can be deceiving.LH side is usually the one to get popped, bent but not cracked.

Re: 1967 Comet shifter
In that thread, looks close to the 2nd pic from the top down. The owner has been sitting on this project for 30 yrs and doesn't remember a whole lot about it.I don't think the trans is original, probably Galaxie. He wants it "correct" but that"s going to be a tall order.Boxes full of stuff, some from dif...

1967 Comet shifter
The subject is an original 67 S code console shifter,C6 trans. The car has the factory shifter but the trans shift lever, kickdown lever, and linkage don't appear to be correct.Would anyone happen to have a picture of these three pieces or know where there is some? Thanks!

Re: Rear Tire Rubbing the Wheel Well
Energy Suspensions does (did) have the front bushings but I don't think they are actually listed for Comet.Measure yours and match up with what they have.A panhard bar will cure the rubbing if everything else is in order. You can get some pretty big tires under stock wheel wells but it takes spring r...

Re: Paint question
Listen to Lou...2 gallons doing what you're going to do.The pros can sometimes get by with less but they know exactly how much to mix and what gun to use.A lot of paint ends up in the air doing the jambs and under hood.If it's a custom mix,it's bad news to run out as that extra quart they mix up mig...

Doesn't look like there's any groove in the rubber for the molding like the HTs. Are there any pins welded to the body below the rubber?

Re: Intake Gaskets
I don't know,Lou...those gaskets do fit the ports perfect but even if you trim the coolant passage, the exposed aluminum on the head is going to corrode. If it were me,I would try to find something that fit a little better. Also, some people have had issues with the print-o-seal design of that gasket.

Re: Big Daddy Cyclone on BAT
I fully restored a 70 429 4 spd CJ Spoiler in the 90s. Had all original power train, original interior was almost perfect. It was a complete car to start with, needing only a few rust repairs, ran and drove when I bought it for 2 grand. Sold it for 12 grand in 98 to buy a fishing boat. It changed hands...

Re: Hood bow, how to fix?
To add to what Lou and sassy said, first make sure the hinges are OK.Remove the springs and see how sloppy the pivot points are.If the hinge is questionable it's gonna happen again. On the later Cyclones and Torinos with the long hoods, this is common.I have had to cut the area where the hinge mounts t...

Lou,getting everything you want on top of the motor and keeping it under a stock hood is probably going to be a challenge. The air cleaner thing is usually the big obstacle for me.

Re: Raptor Bed Liner for Floor
Been thinking about this.I know that most of you guys plan on keeping your cars forever but if you ever do decide to sell, most any knowledgeable buyers hate that stuff. They assume that you're hiding something and will walk away. They have seen or heard of sellers that WERE hiding some rough stuff and...
