Re: what did you do to your comet today?
I appreciate arm chair guessing. I am running out of guessing. Right now I am leaning towards Johno's thought about the toe being too far in. The toe was really far out when I first put the rack in and I have been adjusting it little by little. I am thinking my last little was a little too much. Oth...

Thank you, I will check that also. When I first put the rack in it wayyyyy toe out. So I have been adjusting it little by little. Maybe I went in too much.

Re: what did you do to your comet today?
Thanks. This weekend it will be too cold to work in the garage, supposed to be single digit highs, but I will start to tear it apart and see what I find. I still have a little bit before the weather allows daily driving. I will post what I find.

Re: what did you do to your comet today?
I was questioning the tie rod ends also but when I compare the new ones to the old ones they appear to be the same kind. I also did not think that that would allow the wheels to drop down like they are when I lift the car. Do you know of a good way to check the strut rod bushings and the control arm...

Re: what did you do to your comet today?
Its been a while since I posted but I have been working on my Comet. I have the Unisteer rack and pinion installed and working. I have made some sense of the wiring and now have working tach, brake lights, turn signals and wipers. I still have to get the exhaust modified on the drivers side that I h...

Exhaust manifold needed
I am looking for a drivers side exhaust manifold from a 70's era 289/302 ford. The manifold I need has the gasses exiting towards the rear of the car as opposed to the rear and down. I am looking for something cheap without cracks.
Thanks,
Trent
Thanks,
Trent

Thankspoboyjo65 wrote:I believe any 70's maverick or comet manifold will work, they point back. It seems like someone had a spare one a while back. could have been Ron-comechero. You might post in the wanted section for one.

Unisteer rack and pinion help needed
Here is the background. I bought a comet and it had a brand new unisteer manual rack and pinion in the trunk. This was good because the steering was horrible. The car also came with a GM steering column. I was able to work with unisteer to get the proper u joints I needed to install the rack. The ra...

Re: Sedan to Hardtop
No Worries! I get asked that question all the time!! Care to tell the group about your 65? ROY. I would love to talk about my 65. It has a 289 with a floor shift c4. I am in the process of installing a manual steering rack and pinion from Unisteer. My Comet came with a GM steering column so that ad...
