Re: Exhaust
Yes I've heard the 50 and especially 40 series flowmasters drone, but they don't bother me. Great idle and acceleration sound as you say, Tom

Re: Swap C6 for AOD?
T5 is a good choice. Really happy with mine. Tons of info available with a google search.

Re: Swap C6 for AOD?
I wasn't a fan of the AOD before I exchanged it for the T5. Weird shift pattern, 1-D-OD. Can't manually select 2nd gear without doing the D-1-D shuffle, which tends to wreck them. Make sure you replace the pressure regulator boost valve. becontrols.com has lots of parts and info on both AOD and AODE...

Re: Arctic Vortex blues
The red car has been parked in a snow drift for 3 months or so. Couple more to go...
But honestly this "arctic vortex" business has been the worst part of our winter so far. Has been (relatively) mild so far!

Re: Electrical - turn signals / dash lights
Not sure if a 63 is the same, but my 64 has an inline fuse for the dash lights. Its mixed in with the wiring that goes up to the instrument cluster. The fuse in my car blows about once a year for seemingly no reason. Its a short little glass fuse, about 5A if I remember correctly.

Re: Lavron's '64 Build Thread
I think I would extend the suspension enough to get the driveshaft located and loosely bolted on. Then go to full suspension compression and make sure there is at least some bit of travel before the slip yoke bottoms out in the trans. Your suspension should control the rear end location much better ...

Re: Engine swap
Those 2 engines are vastly different in size and weight. You'd need a very stout front end under a 6 cylinder cummins. Good luck with your swap.

Re: Lavron's '64 Build Thread
Those bolts look correct to me. Looks like the OD of the slip yoke is 1.5" (or 1.499 if you want to be exact). If you measure the slip yoke you have, my bet is that it will be the same. However, you may want to order a new one that takes 1350 joints. Should hold up better behind your monster powertr...

Re: Lavron's '64 Build Thread
The rear flange bolts are M12x1.75 thread, about 250mm or 1 inch long. The factory bolts have 12mm 12 point flange heads on them.

Re: Lavron's '64 Build Thread
I think the yoke I used also fit an AOD. Very possible that the 3 speed/T5/AOD yokes are all essentially the same. Its what I had, and it worked with a conversion u-joint, so thats what I used. Edit: I took the CV u-joint and the front yoke to the local NAPA and they were able to get me a conversion...
