Re: The McCoy 64 A/FX Comet on eBay

It would be cool if some one ran it a nostalgia events. But that is not likely, Not likely, why I didn't mention it but you never know! Seems there were a rash of these cars still running on the track 15-20 years ago. If the price is right, someone may step up to the plate and throw a rev li...

Re: ‘64 Comet - Hemming’s

Owner probably built this or bought it to participate in the Gulf Coast Run and custom car show.
I've never participated. Heard it's grown way too big for my comfort zone.

Sadly, probably only good as a museum piece now.
Looks like it's current status, Joe. Would be cool if someone bought it to display @ nostalgia events around the country.

Re: Joe's '63 1/2 Tinkering Thread

If you can’t find a pin to fit I would think about threading that hole for a button head screw and assemble with a tiny bit of loctite. May be my only recourse, Pat. A very good neighbor works @ Ace and knows the entire store stock off the top of his head. He may be able to fix me up, @ least get p...

Re: Joe's '63 1/2 Tinkering Thread

Parking brake cable came in couple days ago. Wife and I have been under the weather all week. Haven't felt up to getting under the car yet to pull the parking brake housing to rebuild. Have found all the parts I need and did a deep dive into getting it all together while resting a bit. Everything ex...

Re: Early 289 long block untouched

You really want to jump down that rabbit hole? Need longer cylinder walls than 289 block for the additional stroke for 347. JMO, what I would do if I had 260 in my car, build a replica Shelby 260 like the ones that powered the Cobras. I would pick up the 289 for the heads alone for the 260 if they a...

Galaxie prices were dropping a bit back when gas prices started to spike back up.
Good to hear they are coming back.

It's been up for sale for a few years for $275K. Price was reduced just a couple months ago.
Skillman also has three other original factory lightweights for sale. A Ford Thunderbolt, Chevy & Dodge.
Big-time Indy car man?

Re: Price for a T-10

I ended up with three Comet t-10s for $1000 vs the one dual pattern for $600. I’m sure I can get decent money for the two I don’t need. https://i.postimg.cc/qMhqmKzZ/IMG-2151.jpg Man, you went all in. See if you can find two Mustang tailshaft housings on the cheap. Those '64 1/2 guys might buy them...

Re: Joe's '63 1/2 Tinkering Thread

I need to pick up a master parts catalog for this car. :? Shop manual not detailed enough. There is a spring, pawl and pin that locks the handle into the housing that mounts under the dash? My handle currently pulls completely out w/ no type of resistance. Lost my zipper  Fortunately Melvin's ...

I would call these guys up- https://www.steelerubber.com/steele-rub ... atherstrip

They aren't cheap but rubber is all they do. I'm sure they have a solution that will work.

Re: Old Big Sister

Wayne Carini has a nice ‘61 https://youtu.be/He72xdkYrS0?si=H54MLhwMSG1ZqXur That's the ticket, Jim! 👍 Top dog in '61. 6V induction w/ a T-10. Mr. Carini scoffs it off a bit but this was Ford NASCAR for the year w/ 4V induction. Did very well w/ the roofline. The '62, not as aerodynamic and lost gr...

His orange starliner is one of my earliest influences in the car hobby.
No wonder you have an affinity for that year and model!
My memories go back to keeping my right foot planted to the floor w/ a 223
That is a beautiful wagon. :D
