Bit of a story first. Our first house was on the inside corner of a crescent so I seen most traffic come through. Way too often I would see Joe driving a 64 Comet almost always a different one!
Never really got to know him at that time but later we joked how would drive through the cresent to see if mine was sitting on the street.
I would run into him the odd time before I left Saskatoon and he had another one, real tidy Kcode 4speed Caliente but it sat in the garage. I see it once, nice original.
I've since met him on Facebook and is slowly putting it back together. Now to my question, he messaged me about headers on a SBF, my answer,,,no clue, lol. He's looking for a pair of headers for his car, bolt in "no _____ing around".
Is there such a thing?

Re: Old acquaintance needs help.
I asked this to two different drag car owners back when I owned my Cyclone in the late '80s, Fred.
At the time, both of their cars had custom headers made because 'fit' headers were not available.
After both of those conversations, I gave up on headers back then.
All of that being said, I have Hookers in my '63 and they were dented a little for steering shaft clearance on R&P setup.
IDK if stock suspension would clear but suspect it would.

I went with Doug’s Tri-Y. The right side went in pretty easily. Drivers side I had remove the motor mount. In both cases I had the motor jacked up. One thing I don’t like is that the collectors point inward and tuck up pretty tight to the floor. My old headers were straight and dropped more.
Back in the late 80s my dad went through like 2 or 3 sets of headers to get a set that fit. Hedman and hooker and maybe hooker super comp. Not sure what we ended up with but I believe it was a set of Hookers. I thought they were super comp but there was no plate welded to them so maybe not? I was going to have them coated but by the time i had them blasted and coated I could almost buy a new set of headers so that is what I did.
Here are the Doug’s installed. My setup required a little denting for cylinder head flange clearance but no issues to the car chassis.
Bolts are ARP 3/8 with 5/16 hex head - makes life a lot easier

I would think ( but not positively sure) that early Mustang small block headers would fit with minimal tweaks. Being a ‘64 the steering will be an issue and should be changed to the ‘65 Comet ( Mustang) design. When I installed the Boss engine in my Cyclone I used headers for an early Mustang with a Boss engine and found that the ‘65 style steering was necessary. I have mechanical clutch linkage, it did not need any modifications for the installation.

Fred Roy Pool told me the Doug's tri y headers were a no cuss fit for the comet,,,, so with that & lots of others on here & tffn saying the same thing so that's the ones I went with for manual trans. (slightly different part number for auto trans.) Although I did a little cussing it was mainly because of the borgesen sector box being different than stock requiring z bar rebuild. so it took me a few nights to get it all to jive. I had to walk away more than once.
But without the changes I made I think they would have been easy to install .
