I need a Visor advisor

Post by MY63COMET »

Have any of you replaced the visors in your Comet?
If so, what is holding the visor itself to the rod?
Is it glue of some sort?
I was trying to pull the visor off of the rod but it was actually extending the rod as I did. The rod must be two pieces I am assuming.
So how did you get yours off, and what did you you use to put your new one on?
Did it stay in place on its own or did you need some sort of glue?

Thanks for any input.

Keep tugging, Doug from both ends. If they're 60 years old, they're probably stubborn to remove.
May need to spray some penetrating oil in there with a straw if you have room and trashing the old visors..

Thanks Joe. Will give that a try. The new visors came in and look great! Correct size and shape. They said mine originals were the same as a 1962 Falcon and Ranchero. Maybe my car is an early 63?

Check the date code on the dataplate that's riveted to the inside of the driver side door.
My car is late '63 and has wiring color codes for '64. My '63 wiring schematic is useless.

Mystery solved.
A metal pointed rod going into each side of the visor.
