I have been following that auction. ‘64 Marauders are my favorite big Mercury’s. This one looks funny with the fender skirts, seems the comments agree with me.

Yeah, ditch the skirts and it's a good looking ride. I'm not a fan of skirts to start with, but the way it breaks the body molding with a blank space of body color just looks weird in my book. Otherwise, it's pretty sharp.

I’m with you on the skirts. The rear quarters are already skirted enough for my tastes. I’d also ditch the spotlight, tissue dispenser & a couple of other items.

Everyone’s tastes are a bit different. Funny to see option combinations some individuals ordered back then. I’m kind of ‘black or white’ about it. Heck, the PS sort of bugs me on my hot rod @ times  One thing can definitely be said; Mercurys (even little Comets) have great ride quality!

My favorite big Merc also. Ditch the skirts, toss on some cragars and I'm all in.
1965 Mercury Cyclone former drag car, 1971 Boss 351 engine, 4 speed, ladder bars, etc. Now returned to a street car.
