Going to look at a pretty nice 67. 390, 3 speed automatic. 2 door.
Body looks pretty solid although pics are from 2007. Not to far from where I live so I thought I would take a look see.
No real dents and damage to exterior, some rust through i spots. Chrome wore off on display, and door panel 'plastics' covered in chrome.
Engine is original although owner put a 4 barrel carb on, and headers, and a bigger cam, and power breaks.
Its a big step up for me from my 61, 6 banger. 144 engine which I am still restoring.
price seems good to me at 8k.
Would like to get a decent running 64 or 65 cyclone but those are harder to find and more expensive if they are running good.
Anything I should look for when I check it out?

get underneath with a small hammer and tap away on frame rails and torque boxes. A magnet to the fenders and doors to look for any body filler. Good luck.

^^^ sound advice.
Also add a couple others: pull air breather and check for blowby during acceleration.. Sample all fluids.
Two barrel FE w/ 4V conversion nothing to sneeze @ these days w/ modern fuel blends
Put a 600 1850 Holley on a 360 truck engine years ago. It pulled hard on late '80s fuel.

Thanks Joe, although your last 2 sentences went slightly over my head.....wooooosh.
I have read some posts here about how hard it is to get parts for 66-67 cars. Which is always daunting. Lord knows how I've searched
for some parts for my 61. Might be hesitant on this one if the parts are harder to get.......would have thought they'd be a bit easier but
the 66 and 67 might not be as desirable as say the 65 caliente or cyclone.

Mechanically its built on the same platform as the Fairlane, so that broadens the mechanical parts search. The 65 is a one year body, so not sure you'd be much better off if you needed body parts.

seems to me 67 should be easier for parts than a 61... which is a needle in a haystack, right?

You may be able to burn regular octane fuel in the lower compression 2V engine.61 Waycrosscomet wrote: ↑Sat Nov 16, 2024 5:59 pmThanks Joe, although your last 2 sentences went slightly over my head.....wooooosh.

In today’s world I’d think you could get pics real time, not from 2007. In any case, if the car is that close have a look at it. If it was close to me I’d check it out.
Parts, well yes and no on availability, depends what you need. I’ve been pretty lucky finding parts and accessories for our 66 4dr, but 2 drs are a bit easier to get.
Thankfully I have a friend very close who has stripped probably seven to eight 66-67 comets over the years and still has a bunch of parts available. You can search the net for the parts you think it’ll need or you’ll want to replace and that’ll give you an idea what’s out there. AutoKrafters is a go to for me on some stuff, like window felts, door rubber seals etc, and there are several more parts places online.
Where is this vehicle located, 8k doesn’t sound too bad for price. Good luck with whatever you decide.
