66 Cyclone GT 390 S code convertible

Post by Bkwudz »

I picked this up before the winter and planned on just a quick fluff job and then just drive it. But it had such little rust issues, some in the floors. Lower quarters and lower doors, I thought it deserved a more complete redo. It’s now down to a shell, In prep for blasting and new paint. Engine and tranny are at their shops for rebuilds, hopefully I can start putting it back together next month. Although I’m still looking for a good pass door, I did find a NOS drivers door, can’t believe this stuff is still out there, just need another real good passenger door

Nice work, I am glad I am about at the end of patching rust even though you did a much better job of patching than I did

Keep the picts coming.

See Ya,

Nice car. Love the 66 GT. Love that lower stripe. Increasingly the 66 GT is becoming my second favorite Comet.

Nice work.

How did you tack the bottom lip of your quarter patch panel to the top of the rocker? Went through the back?

Exactly, with the windows out there is just enough room

Got it blasted last week, only a couple small rust surprises, so that was nice. Did a couple small patches. Hopefully going for finish bodywork and paint next couple weeks. Stopped my engine rebuilder to see how it’s going today, should be done next week too
