Is this a factory thing.

Doing the floor boards and under the bezel that holds the shifter we found this god awful hole cut in the same shape as the shifter bezel. This cannot be a factory cut no? I mean you would only need a small hole for the linkage to go through. Why go through the trouble to cut something like this, and it looks like it was done with dull tin snips.

That is a typical factory cutout. The shifter mechanism sticks up pat the floor so that is the large hole. These holes were cut on the fly, not pre-stamped. There should be some sealer under the shifter cover to seal the interior.

Like Doug said,that's typical. only way to know for sure is look at the door tag trans code if it has the original door with your vin on it.

Oh ok. Thanks for the replies. We have the original trans and doors.
