crossmember c4 solid mount
crossmember c4 solid mount
Hey guys im looking for a transmission crossmember with a solid mount for a c4...anyideas?
Re: crossmember c4 solid mount
Comethead has a stout looking aftermarket crossmember for regular trans mounts,I guess you make a solid spacer.
Re: crossmember c4 solid mount
Pro, I seem to remember guys saying to run a rubber rear mount.
The reason being any flex in the chassis from engine torque will be transferred to the tranny case.
This is probably old school thinking don't know if that has changed.
And I don't know how much cage your car has

Maybe I should research this a little more,i was told solid engine mounts you should have a solid trans mount. As far as roll cage goes its presently a 8 point im considering going with a full. I may just fabricate a crossmember myself..
Re: crossmember c4 solid mount
Please don't use solid. you need flex somewhere. I learned hard way!!............Al

Pro, I was told the same thing with my car. I 2 motor plates, but my tranny mount is rubber. The crossmember is homemade. It is made of tubular steel with a piece of flat stock in the middle and it was designed to use a mid 70's ford truck (I wish I would have wrote down part #) rubber mount.

A friend of mine has a 60 Falcon with 460 and motor plate along with a solid trans mount. He has been racing that since the 80's and never has had a problem.
Re: crossmember c4 solid mount
I ended up with a rubber mount made up a crossmember to go with it,.
