1966 Owners Manual

Post by Bluebeetle55 »

Hi there,

I am new tho this forum and I would like to ask your opinion about the "Registered ownders manual" I have. It is for a 1966 Mercoury Comet. I used to have a 1966 Mercur Cyclone Gt which I have sold unfortunately a few years ago but found this this "manual" a few days ago which came with the Cyclone when I bought it a long time ago. This manual is obviously not for the GT but came somehow with it....
Please see attachments...Is it really something special according tho the numbers ?

Kind regards.
Thomas

It is weird. The attachment is only 689 KB but it shows me that is too large...

The picture which I wanted to send is from the original ownerns manual....
it shows the following numbers:
6H12C500001
54B YM 32 17H 32 1 3

I could not find a transmission code for number 3 and do I really have the owners manuel for the ever fist build 404 1966 comet for dor sedan ß

Kind regards.
Thomas

First, welcome aboard! :D Secondly, many of us use a photo hosting site called postimages.org to post pics. Here's how to do it:

It's probably an illustration. just an example of a door tag. like this one in the 64 shop manual has same thing;

Appears you owned a base model Cyclone?
My '65 had three-speed manual shift on the column.

There is a '66 Cyclone 289 car located not far from me that was up for sale but taken back by the owner as a keeper.
Kind of the same story for me w/ my '63 Custom.

Hi Joe,

actually I used to have a Cyclone GT with a 390 cui engine and different VIN number. This manual came obviously with the car by accident. I am just wondering if the VIN number here is original ( 50001 ) or, if it is just an illustration like Jim is guessing....

Regards.

It was me who said it was probably an illustration. I believe these came with an ownercard stuck to this page of the manual that could be taken out & presented at the dealer service desk ,,,,,,so the actual card would have the proper vin & codes for the car .

That is probably the thing....so I do not have a special Owners Manual... :D :?
Anyway, many thanks for your help...I will keep it or if anybody wants to have it for a decent price, I am willing to sell it...

Kind regards.
