Identity of my motor
I have a 1962 comet 4 door with an inline 6. I was wodering how I could tell if it was the 144 or 170. Thank you.

Pete,What is the 5th digit of your vin?Should be stamped on the drivers side shock tower.S=144 U=170.If you think the motor could've been switched at some point check the part number on top of the intake log on the head.I think I have some info somewhere to decode that.Later,Heath

Yeah,Most of the Lightnings have been used and abused ,I know mine has .But they weren't designed to be idled around at 1500 rpms all day.Here is a pic of my 63 Comet Custom Wagon I took in the snow this morning.There should be some pics of my Lightning in some of my old posts in the lounge.I also spend a lot of time on the National LiGHTNING OWNERS cLUB as Comet Man.
