New Member, Old Comet Guy

Post by ranchertom »

Hi, my name is Tom. I live in Sherherdsville, KY, and am on the Mercury Comets and Comet East FB pages (as Tommy Twonames). I was in Nashville when Comet East was first organized, and was a member and officer of that club. I remember when the Comet Central forum was introduced but didn't join because I was uncomfortable with the format. For reference, I didn't join FB until my grandkids came along (the oldest is 13) and my daughter told me I needed it to keep up with them.
I am a new member here but I've been a Comet guy since 1962. That's when my Nana and Pop bought a new 1962 Comet 2dr sedan. It is Light Aqua with Dark Aqua interior, 170 I6 and 2speed Merc-O-Matic. It current has about 88000 miles on the odometer. I have had the car since the early 90s.
The car (named Agnes Ann) is currently in the shop getting some refreshing after some years of disuse. I hope to have her up and about before the end of summer, but in our area there are often nice days when we can get out for a ride almost all year.
Many thanks to the admins for approving my membership.I'll be reading a lot and hope I can contribute.

Welcome on, Tom :D

That little Comet is a treat, esp. w/ high gasoline prices.
I enjoyed driving my '65 202 w/ 200 I6 years ago when I had longer drives.

Welcome -

- good to add another early 'roundbody' Comet enthusiast. '62 is first year for Mercury badged Comet and still retains the unique styling cues from MEL origins...

have fun
