'62 Comet Custom

Post by 62_CometCustom »

Hi there! My name's Allan, I'm 18, and I just bought a '62 Comet Custom 2dr from my friend John Fowlie who owns Big M Automotive in Williams, CA. He bought the car from a tow yard, and it sat in front of his office since 2003. I was in need of a car, and I asked if he had any decent cars that wouldn't need much to be road worthy. He thought for a sec, then said he had something perfect for me. That's when I went over to the office and saw her :D . All original, Sultana White, 144 or 177I6/Mercomatic. I painted the stock rims red for my own personal preference, other than that she's original! She's my daily driver, and for anyone who cares I've also got a '57 Plymouth Belvedere that's my project. Anyway, I found this site, and I'm stoked. People who can help with questions! :D I'm familiar with forums, I've been a member of PlymouthCentral.com since 2006. So yeah, thanks for this site and forum! Lookin' forward to gettin' familiar with this car. 8)

Here's some pics!

Oh and speaking of Comets, I learned to drive a 3-on-the-tree when I was 13. First old car I ever rode in, let alone drove. A faded, unrestored '65 Comet 202 4dr sedan. It was a rental car in the 60s, from what my friend [the owner] knew. 8) Guess I was just destined to own a Comet!

Oh, and I decoded the patent plate today!

She's a 62 for sure, date code is "29C" ?, she's the Comet Custom model for sure, and she's got the 170ci motor! 8) Double checked the motor numbers and it says so too. Interior is the colors listed from the code. Oh, and I found out the original color is Champagne. Makes sense, because the faded white paint she's got right now has a cream/hint of beige type color to it. So it must be just really oxodized Champagne. 8)
