back in the saddle
I started a 65 Caliente I found in a south Ga. barn. Yes a true barn find. I did a frame swap for the previous owner on his Malibu for the car.
Long time friend who wouldn't sell me the car but would trade it for work. I had previously restored his 63 Montery convertible.
Since getting the car I have had a heart valve replaced ,lived in a motor home for 2 years. Moved to new shop from north Ga to middle Tn.
Now I have a 26x52 shop and have room to unbox all of my tools and get started om the car. It was never going to be a restoration. I have so far installed a 4inch dropped straight axle in the front, Had a 9 inch rear narrowed to fit . It's going to be a streetable Gasser that I can run in some nostalga events and some drag and drive events.
I have a Brent Lykins 311 inch small block Windsor that dynoed at 535 hp on pump gas with some additive . So driving it on E85 should be no problem.
Glad to finally be settled and ready to get back to work.

Re: back in the saddle
Welcome aboard! Sounds like a cool project.
I'm in east Tennessee, I think there's a few others in the state as well. As for the tail panel, I don't think they're repopped anywhere, so a parts car is probably the solution. I'm keeping my eyes open for one for bumpers and other odds and ends myself for my 65 Cyclone project.
Post some pics! Love to see the gasser -

Re: back in the saddle
Well I went over to my friend's house and retrieved the bullet for my Comet build. It is a very special little Windsor. It's an 8.2 block and it's 311 cu.in.
It was built by Lykins motorsports of Ky. The whole build and the dyno pulls are on you tube . Just type in Lykins 311 Windsor and it should pull it up.
Should push the Comet right down the road.
I guess I should start a build on here.

Yes, the great thing about builds on here is they are here forever. I still get people asking me about my old build thread.

Cool motor but you could have trouble getting that black thing(water pump?) on the front of the motor in the car.

Re: back in the saddle
It will clear just fine once I recess the firewall and move the motor back a few inches. I had a straight axle Falcon that the motor was back 10 inches.
It's just metal and it can be cut and put back together again. I had planned on cleaning up the firewall anyways.

Yeehaa, sounds like it’ll be a Hoss, will be following along as well. All the best with it.
