Recommended Way to Post Car Photos

Post by steven_yetter »

If I post a collection of photos on my Comet, is there a recommended way to post them and a central place to post to related to me/my profile/identity. In Intro to Myself, I posted two photos. Under Profile, I see Manage attachments, but I did not see an action to Add Attachment. Does Manage Attachment apply to any post that has an attachment? Is the only mechanism to adding photos to post a new message.

Most of us use a pic host . & most use postimage because you can set it to automatically resize your pics as you upload them. This way you dont have to resize them on your device. but there are several hosts ,some use other ones. here are some tips;

Thanks so much for letting me know about Postimage. And also in answering my question you pointed me to the Lounge, which looks like a better place for these kind of general use messages and topics.

Postimage will let me host my pictures so that I don't lose them, and make it easier to post the photo on any forum. In terms of posting messages with the pictures, looks like general usage is to have a photo as your signature, and then to post information pictures on specific topics that relate to a problem or a solution. You still post pictures with messages, it is just that they refer to PostImage.

If I wanted a gallery of my Comet, I would post a message to "Introduce myself" or post a "Photos of My 1964 Comet Caliente Convertible" somewhere?

Hey Steven, There's a topic called SHOWING OFF IN THE Lounge.
Great place for your gallery of pics
I'd rather do it myself if it's done right or not,,,isn't that what hotrodding is all about

Actually, Showing Off is under the Performance heading on the Board Index. Comet Lounge is at the top of that section, and Showing Off is at the bottom.

Images not shown:

In "Showing Off" at "Let Me Start!!!!!" by Sassy, the reply messages have pictures from the person who replied, which I assume is a signature. But the images posted by Sassy have "image", and right-click offers Load Image, or Copy Image Link.

Is this an early case of not using PostImage?

But there was a view that listed attachments I think as 1,2,3....41. When I click one of those numbers, the message is shown with the pictures.

I don't understand.

Those were probably pics hosted by a different site called Photobucket
I think it was sold and the new owners charged huge fees so we quit it and they tossed out pics.
They destroyed alot of great posts and totorials.

I maintain my own hosting with unlimited bandwidth and storage space and costs me about $150 a year. Allows me to host my business website and email addresses, etc.

There are some pretty inexpensive hosting plans out there

There is the premium version of PostImages, but that might be a good example of a crapshoot.

I sent a question to Postimages several days ago and they haven't answered (via email they said).

Anyone know how to create a gallery within a gallery?

Or to move uploaded images from one gallery to another?

Steven,
I use post image also. But have been posting pictures on various forums for 15 years. Some of the hosting sites like Photobucket cost money to maintain where they used to be free. The post image hosting site has galleries inside so you can store many pictures.
Hope this helps a little?? you will get there.
Regards,
Chris and Cheryl
