'63 1/2 Custom Sportster

Post by Joe Travers »

Only posted a trailer pic of the Sportster, thought I would throw this one up.
The awning damage was from Hurricane Laura. Still waiting on the contractor to fix that.
Whenever this new one passes, I'll get a pic of my buddy's '65 202 I've been working on.
I think he's fixing to put it up for sale.

Love the 63.5 Comet hardtop!
I owned a 63.5 260 V8 S22 for a while but I had to get rid of it. Sad day.
It was complete and still had the bucket seats, console and all the S22 trim.

Hey Joe!

Yeah, the S-22 is a beauty with the extra goodies.
I love this car because it's lighter than the later models. This one should be able to hang with a new Mustang GT on the street.
I'll get some better pics up soon after I clean her up a bit and find a good spot to shoot.
Cleaning up after last night's Cyclone (pun intended). :)

I think I stand a chance, Pop, looking at horsepower/weight ratio. Those GTs are quick but they are mighty heavy :D
My oldest son had a new Shelby a few years ago but had to sell, traded in on a California Special GT.
Couldn't touch that Shelby with a ten-foot pole!
Just sold the CS-GT to buy a new extended cab Expedition to haul the camper, take the grandkids camping.

Here's some pics of my old buddy Roop's '65 202 I've been working on.
I sold him my '65 202 about 20 years ago. He lent it to a guy who didn't have transportation and never got it back.
Five years ago he bought another '65 202 with a 4 speed and a roller cam 5.0L but had to sell because he had back surgery and couldn't clutch.
He bought this 200 c.i.d. car 3 years ago, has a C-4. It's been sitting for a couple years and I'm trying to get it back on the road.
Rebuilt the carb and just replaced the exhaust manifold gasket this afternoon.

It's Y'd with 2 Cherry Bombs :D
Tried to talk him into a header today but it still needs work just to make it a safe driver.
Upgrades will have to wait a while.

Y'all may say pop is crazy,,,,,,back in the 60's ,, there was a couple of 6 cyl chevy's that ran around town with split exhaust manifolds and glass packs with tailpipes ,,,they had such a pretty sound under WOT,,,,,then when they threw 'em in 2nd and let off,,,they cackled and popped and made all kind of noise,,,,almost as pretty as a flathead v8 with glasspacks or a Y block wth glass packs....but they were close in the running....nothing beats the sound of a ford,,,,even with engine off and keys in your pocket :!: 8) 8) :D

Took the Comet for first highway drive today to Roop's place to work on the 202. Took me a while to get there @ 2200 rpm, cruising around 50 mph. Sorry for the dirty car and the shadows but it's Fall under the pines over there. The 202 is back in the garage. A yellow V8 202 is on it's way soon.
