Finally got around to pulling the old leaky air shocks last week. Replaced with KYB Excel G's. Now I have the stance I've been looking for from the get-go. Old S/S look after I rustle up some period wheels and rubber, maybe later this year. Excuse the post cutting the car in half.

I was thinking chrome reverse on rear, vintage TTD on the front to get '63 S/S look.
Only thing keeping the Mags on there is that Mercuryman center cap. Sorta cute but better fit for a red '67 Cougar.

I'm with you, Pop. Was thinking chrome reverse on back but I don't trust new chrome these days.
That cream colored white is cool, not bright.

Thanks for the nice comments, guys!
She's a 10 year old restoration, nice ten-footer. Showing some wear but I'm tinkering to fix a lot of small things that add up in the long run.
No heavy lifting, doctor's orders. :(

Made the monthly CC run @ the local coffeehouse early this morning. Glad I pressure washed the old girl yesterday evening. There was a auto photographer there that got off on the styling and gave her some special attention with the lens. He posted these on FB. Met an old Cobra Jet racer I hadn't seen in 35 years. Had a great time catching up and being the usual oddball in the crowd.

Wow! Those pics really show how clean your car is!
You talk as though your car is a 20 footer ( which mine is!)
but it stands up to a closeup very well!

He missed the rough spots, Fred. I'm not taking the whole car down to repair this-

My '65 Cyclone was completely blown out in the same place, Jim. It appears to be the weak spot on the Comets. I'm betting when the panel comes off, there will be decomposed nature there that has trapped moisture over the years. Must have been leaky or missing quarter glass seal in the past. I do take a piece of wire and clean out the drain holes under the rocker panels.
