My 66 Caliente Conv
My 66 Caliente Conv
When I bought this it was a pretty solid southern car. It is red with red interior and black top. It had 289/auto. and stock gauges (half of which did not work). I changed out all five gauges using Autometer units that seem to fit well in the original bezel. I got bored so out came the C4 and in went the T5. Love driving it now. But the bigger plan was to replace the tired 289 with a nice 347 stroker. Just finished that and now all I need is a good set of rear gears. The 2.80 ratio just isn't gonna get it. I'll get pictures posted as soon as I can figure out how.

Covers up that bow tie quite nicely.

You're only about 80 miles away. Let me know if you get an itch to restore another one. I've had one to build for a year and a half and my health keeps getting in the way.

Re: My 66 Caliente Conv
I've got 5900 in it. I have a florida title documenting the 78,000 original miles. I bought it in Kansas from a fella that had it since 1974 and it had been stored inside for years. It purr's like a kitten. I have a new top, new door panels and quarter covers, new re-upholstered seats, carpet, gasket kit and bearings for the engine, ( nothing wrong I was just going to pull it and detail it so I thought I'd throw new gaskets and bearings in), new rubber seals for the doors, trunk and I don't know what all. If you want to come and take a look we'll talk. I'll take some what of a hit on it. I'm a little over an hour from the airport in Ft. Meyers and I'm south of Lake Placid right off of 27 just to the north of Hy 70. I have it stored inside at a friends in town. I could deliver it with my open hauler too for the cost of fuel. I forgot to mention that the car is complete with all the trim. Nice straight grille, nice tail lamps and trim piece for the rear, headlamp trim rings etc. The only other thing it will need after paint is the seal kit for the top ($329) and your choice of tires/wheels. Brakes are good and so is the exhaust. Bumpers will need re chromed and I got a quote of $350-400 each over on the east coast.
