Re: 64 Falcon Road Racer
Shaving the weight any way you can!
Love that powder blue color but I'm not much on rusty look. Owned too many of those when they weren't fashionable at all!
Very cool Falcon.

Re: 64 Falcon Road Racer
Hey Joe, the tires and wheels in the pics are a set of street tires I got off a buddy that sold his Mustang. They are 205/60- 15 front and 225/60 rears. And yes they are 15X7 Americans. The Hoosier race tires I’m using are 225s on 15X7 wheels for all four.Joe Travers wrote: ↑Tue Sep 21, 2021 11:32 amHey Joe-

Thanks, Joe!
I would like to install 225 on rear but too wide, I do believe. Barely fit an 8" under there now.

Re: 64 Falcon Road Racer
It’s pretty tight with the 225s out back, I had to flare both sides and I see a little tire rub from cornering.
I considered mini tubs but decided it would be outside the main plan for this car. I’m just having fun and the tires are wide enough to scare hell out of me when need be.

Thanks Fred! This next track day should be a good one. It’s a Saturday and Sunday affair and its basically unlimited track time Sunday afternoon when everyone goes home.
On late Sunday of the last event there were only a few of us out there hauling ass and having fun.

Track report-
Spent the weekend at Willow Springs again. The car ran GREAT! Increased the rev limiter to 6500rpm and that got me 120mph on the front straight. My lap times improved a little as I’m finally getting comfortable with the car and revving the snot out of it and throwing it into the turns trying to find its (and my) limits.
This is a very fast track. It’s 2.5 miles long and has a front and back straight that easily gets you over 100mph plus. The front one is literally straight as an arrow, the back one is kinda hairy- its a gradual right hander you’re hauling ass on and approaching a decreasing radius Turn 9 that is a difficult one to do right. Most of the big wrecks happen at turn 9.
The Falcon truly excels on turns 3 4 and 5. I can throw the car into that horseshoe shaped turn pretty hard in third gear at about 5-6k rpm and it sticks like glue with a little throttle controlled tail slide out. SO MUCH FUN. And I found that most of the heavier new Mustang GTs just can’t keep up with me or if I’m behind them I’m completely filling up their rear view mirrors.
Turn 1 is pretty exciting too. Slowing down from triple digits I would late brake whoever was in front of me and stay with them. The Lincoln front brakes and 2.5 inch rear drums with carbon Kevlar pads and shoes are a dream once they’re hot. They consistently grab hard and give me confidence to drive right up someone’s rear to close up the gap.
Again the car ran great. 190 degrees all weekend revving the heck out of it and she’s flat and predictable.
Pics for now. Waiting on some pics and videos of me on the track to surface.
$10/gallon 101 octane race gas. The engine loves it! Gotta remove the trunk lid to fill the fuel cell. And I use a stick to measure how much gas I have
My buddies 64 post car. Fast as f*ck! He runs 18 inch wheels and big modern brakes. Weighs 2600 pounds and runs a roller 5.0 with a T5.
Sky Dog! At this point I may never paint it. Having too much fun and too lazy to take it apart again. It’s unbelievable how many chunks of hot rubber and rocks come at you on the track. Especially when you’re close in on a guy. New paint ain’t in the works for now. Maybe some day. Maybe not.

Awesome. Can’t wait to see some video/audio of that little sprinter, sprinting by at 120 mph.

Re: 64 Falcon Track Car
When you get the Pro I would really like to see the front suspension work, the front wheel from the side of the car and the driver work from the right A pillar,, all old school camera spots.
I'll submit more requests when thee above is completed,,, lol
Actually any vids will be welcomed!!
Edit
Was looking closeup at your car in the pic with the yellow car,
looks like your somewhere around 1.5° neg camber static
