231 V8 ??

Hello All
Does anyone know what the smallest V8 engine that Ford made ?
I recently bought a (what I thought was a) 302 with a 3 speed tranny and I'm thinking it's a 231.....??@!?

They make a stroker kit to come up with 331.

Ok...it is a 221 V8
when did FMC quit making these motors ?
& Are they good motors ? & what's the deal with the "water passing through the intake manifold @ the carburetor ??

Don't forget the 255 made in 1980-81 for mustang and thunderbirds. Looks like a 302 but intake is unique.

Good motor for the time, but low horsepower / small valve heads

221 ended 1962.

Cooling passages under the carb are to do just that. Cooling so that the fuel does not vapor lock / atomizes correctly.

Hi all and thank you for yr input...so come to find out , this motor I have is NOT a 231 it's a 1968 289 with electronic ignition , alternator and a 4 belt pulley on the harmonic balancer . It's slightly different than my 260 that's in my Comet .but it's NOT a 231....thanks again guys and stay healthy😎

Plus the fact that there's no such thing as a 231 CID SBF !
