385 Series shoe horned into a 65?

Post by Lip Ripper »

I read the thread about cutting the tower's. Some were FE and some Cleveland. Has anyone tried a 429/460 down in one? I'm still contemplating the 65 202 with rotten torque boxes.

Second one down on page.

They took the aprons completely out and tube/chassis at least the front. But I think it could be done with cutting the shock towers and modifying the aprons. They put 427's in them with the aprons, is the 460 wider than a 427??

Same width and height as the FE, the FE is 2" longer.

If this is accurate.

I have a issue of Hot Rod that has the dimensions of Ford engines. I will see if I can find it to compare.

Hey Ripper, hang that 460 on a crane and start lowering, have a gas axe and tools on hand, remove parts as required with pre mentioned equipment till your happy. Now your ready!
Really, if you want it in there it will fit but like mine dont expect someone to sell a bolt in kit.

Fred, there you go with common sense again.

I have since moved on to the 61 Falcon and it has a nice enough Five O that I'll leave the 429 on the concrete for now.

I know this is out of date with other comments but wanted to post a pick of my 65 with built 460 (468), balanced, race internals, etc. Beefed C6, with 9 in.rear 373 gears. Subframe connectors, etc. Shock towers removed, power steering, brakes, other things.
