60 comet gas tank

i need to get a new gas tank for my 60 comet 4dr. i am confused as to size. macs and the other catalogs list a 14, and a 16 gallon. the 16 is much cheaper, but reqires a new/ different sending unit. did they come originally with the 14 gallon ? any suggestions ? thanks, mike

I would contact them because they also have a kit which includes the sending unit and filler hose. Beware though, my filler neck on the tank was not exactly in the right spot so getting that filler hose on was a bit of a pain.

I know this is an older thread but I am in the same boat with my 63--that 16 gal tank filler neck is a full 1 1/2" off center of the filler pipe--was yours off by that much? How did you solve it?

Also the muffler doesn't clear the tank (@#$%@#$@%) so I have to get the exhaust pipe bent to reroute it enough to clear.

Also pissed i paid too much for this tank from Mac's--cheaper at the site you posted, and i found another place that had it for even less:

I bought one made in canada and the filler neck is off as well. The tank even looks like there is a flat area to have it in the correct area, but they didn't. I guess i'll have to take my brand new tank and have the filler neck moved. I think that will give the best results. Mark
