Hey everyone, i hope all is well. Working on my 61 S22 but have made changes I need help with. I changed to an alternator from my generator and I'm wondering about the idiot light, specifically can i connect the light to the alternator. I'm bypassing the voltage regulator as I have a "one wire" gm alternator. The one wire has a rubber cover to two posts for the internal regulator that I was told I could connect to. Does the stock regulator need to be used for the gen light to work? How do I do this, any idea on which post on the alt I use and what is the wire from the dash I use. Thanks a ton

HELP. Generator warning light with alternator upgrade
Re: HELP. Generator warning light with alternator upgrade
Not sure on the GM alternator. I used a one wire VR kit from FalconParts with a 65 style alternator on my 64. It works great. The instructions might help you figure out what wire to use with the dash light.
