Need help on engine code

Just bought a 63 comet, and am trying to decipher what engine is in it. Dropped the starter and found D2OE 8016 AB? Lost the numbers off the transmission, but it has 11 bolts on the pan and one curve out on one corner. Looks like a c-4, but not sure. If so, how many gears in the tranny? Originally a 2 sp 260 v-8. Just got it fired up the other day and the motor sounds good, so thats a big plus. Thanks for any help. Lots of work ahead! Wish me luck.

How bout some pics,how about a part # off the intake manifold?Are your valve covers smooth or do they have breathers ?

Can't get pictures resized to put up. But, from further research, it seems to keep pointing to a 72 model 302 from a torino. intake has D3OE-9425-AA stamped on it. Thanks for looking for me. If you think of anything else, please post.
