61 4dr. 144cid. hood to radiator wall gasket

Got this new rubber gasket for hood to radiator wall that i'm trying to figure out how to install. Got one pic in shop manual thats just not
decent enough to see how to install. The book shows the wide part of gasket more upright and going towards the engine compartment.
It looks like the small 'fold over' slides onto the radiator wall gasket flange? If I do that, the rest of the
gasket lays kinda flat to front of car. I would think it should be more upright like in shop manual.
Anyone with a 61 who has a decent close up on how it attaches would be greatly appreciated.

I read where this gasket is to keep more air going through the radiator, so I would think it should be more upright.
only way to do this is to attach it 'along side' that radiator wall flange, any other way results in the gasket laying down, flat like, either
engine side, or towards the front side.
puzzling.
