Sorry, another post. I found this "complete kit" and was wondering if anyone went this route or could take a look and give an opinion. Maybe it will help someone else out also.
The site is https://www.discbrakeswap.com/Mustang%2 ... SWAP1.html
Scroll down to FALCON/COMET, FAIRLANE
The kit is "SWAP.1.3/M/F". You can click on "image" to see the kit.
Thanks!

There are several guys on the forum that have used that kit and are very pleased with it. That's the kit I'm considering for my car.

It's the one I used. good kit. you'll only need new hard lines & fluid . so yeah it's tried & true by many.
It's also a great time to add a new hard line to & on the rearend & the hose , & new rear wheel cylinders for a completely new clean hydraulic system, throw in new rear brakes for peace of mind.
the only thing I changed was the 2 bolts holding each cover over the brake pads, they had 10mm heads, I used some with 3/8'' heads. & not that I didnt have a 10mm socket, I have buckets full of em,,, I find those things everywhere,,,
but I didnt want any metric heads on anything.

Cool. And the price isn't to bad for a complete set. I was intrigued with it because I'm assuming that the kit comes with the correct fittings and adapters to connect to my existing brake lines for my 63. Can you confirm that for me? Also, you mention that I would need new hard lines. Are you referring that only if I wanted to replace the existing ones? Oh, and I have 14x6 Magnum 500s. I hope they clear.poboyjo65 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2024 11:34 pmIt's the one I used. good kit. you'll only need new hard lines & fluid . so yeah it's tried & true by many.

No you dont have to get new hard lines but 60 years is a long time & they could have all kinds of crud in there, that could hinder the flow or contaminate the new calipers. why would you spend over 700 bucks & not spend another 10-20 bucks on a new line to make it all new up front? I juust went to oreillys & got pre made lines & bent them myself. they have all different lengths up to 60''. I think mine turned out neater than factory lines > especially near the heater motor

also the kit comes with a bracket to neatly mount the adjustable proportion valve under the MC.

I used the pre-made lines on the rear too. it took 2 of the 60 inchers & a shorter one,I cant remember what it was, I got it a little extra long & made some loops. I remember thinking Groover & Jimscyclone would be proud of me for using math & pi to figure out what diameter of pipe to wrap it around to make the loops to use up the excess for a perfect fit.
I have seen some factory systems use the loops to help with shock fatigue or something so I thought it was a good idea.

the brass couplers to put them together were about the price of the long lines but altogether still cheaper than buying the ones made for the car or buying a double flaring tool & doing the flaring myself & I didnt have any leaks.
& if I screwed up a line it was always the last shorter one so didnt have to re bend the whole thing. I think that may have been the larger ones I used for fuel lines, they were not as easy to bend

Funny this conversation popped up. I was reading the manual on this not long ago. It recommends using new lines and bending/shaping to fit.poboyjo65 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2024 12:56 pmNo you dont have to get new hard lines but 60 years is a long time & they could have all kinds of crud in there, that could hinder the flow or contaminate the new calipers. why would you spend over 700 bucks & not spend another 10-20 bucks on a new line to make it all new up front?
'Pre-made' lines are really a modern thing for convenience sake, evidently

Re: Classic Ford Disc Brake Swap Kit
Yeah Joe, I can see not wanting to mess with the rear line, but no way I would not replace the front one. Another thing about the ones from O'Reilly's is they keep them in stock and they are called gator back or something like that. Suppose to be coated and won't rust like a regular pre bent factory line. I wanted all new so I could swap over to Dot 5 brake fluid which won't hurt paint, has a much higher boiling point and doesn't attract moisture so will endure many years of use or just sitting.
