1963 S-22 4 door 170ci

I have a good friend who currently has a 1963 S-22 4 door in what looks to be very good shape. It is tan or putty with a tan interior. Everything works and it drives, I may go drive it Friday and can then post how well. I have not been under the car but the only dent is the passenger front fender at the wheel lip. The mid door chrome on the driver's door is missing and the paint looks original but not very rusted for the age.

My question is what should the car cost?
Can a 289 or small V8 be put in easily?
Can it be fitted with front disks and dual bowl MC fairly easily?
Are parts available like the fender and chrome trim piece?

Thanks for any information and advise.

The S-22 is the 2 dr Coupe sport package.Does your car have the chrome spears on the rear quarter panels? How about some pics.A 289 or 302 will bolt right in with the correct motor mounts.
No body parts are reproduced for these cars other than some Nameplates. You can find some nice parts for these though.

It does have the chrome spears on the rear qtrs. Will the 289 or 302 work with the two speed trans? or is it better to use a C4 or manual? I will try to get some images today and then try to post them.

What about chrome trim is any of that available or is there a Falcon equal that can be used?

Thanks

Jim

None of the chrome trim is available.I watch a lot of parts on Ebay,I can help you find the parts that you need.I have a 63 2 door parts car.
I would find an engine trans combo,The 2 speed will not bolt up to a V8.I would probably go with an automatic trans.I went the 4 speed route and it took me a while to find the correct T-10,linkages,had to modify one header. If I had it to do over the automatic wouldve been a much easier swap.

Hello,

260 or early '64 5 bolt bellhousing engine will go with the 2speed auto. Unfortunately other mods are required due to the increased power.

This site may help.

I also installed a power brake booster available from ABS.

http://abspowerbrake.com/

This dual master cylinder/booster did the trick without going to disc front. Not like we're stopping alot of horsepower here...

Many parts available thru ebay.

If you have a 4 door S-22 it's....Priceless, because they didn't make a 4-door S-22!

Send some pics!

Thanks guys.

I have discovered the model is not S-22 as you all have stated. I have some images I took on Friday and just have not had time to post them. I have found several flaws as I took a very close look at the car inside and out. It still is in very good shape but no without blemishes.

Is there a model designation for the 4 door Comet. The owners manual in the glove box says 1963 Comet and S-22. That is why my friend said S-22 I am sure.

Thanks again and I will try to get some images loaded today.

Jim
