"Cheap" and "Comet-specific" rarely occur together.

I have been working with John from Open Tracker Racing. After the first of the year I should be getting All the performance stuff I need to make a fun street car that turns really well. Some of the parts include big bearing spindles, upper and lower control arms, roller bearing idler arm and spring perches, a Shelby 1” drop, 1” sway bar and Shelby quick steer. Here is a photoshop from the H.A.M.B. I am going for more of a “Shelby comet” white with black interior, Shelby gauge pod.. I don’t want to make a “tribute car”, just a new creation!

Sounds like a cool ride!
Should turn killer with Open Tracker stuff in it
Liking the old Nascar looking wheel hubs with the screw mounted caps
The Photoshop is a few too many colours for me but good work whoever did it.

I'd rather do it myself if it's done right or not,,,isn't that what hotrodding is all about

Sounds like a good plan.it should drive great! the shelby quick steer kit afaik only comes with a pitman arm for a 1'' sector shaft. your 64 may have a 1.125'' shaft.

My 64 has the power steering which I am converting to the 65 centerlink. I decided the Tag (HCC AN) on the steering box and it says it’s a 1” selector shaft 16:1 steering, so hopefully that is correct. That photoshop picture is TOO busy for me too. Here is a new one, still too busy, I would prefer it without the numbering and sponsor decals, add magnesium torq thrusts, black interior, then it would be more to my vision. I think I am on board with loosing the side trim, minus the comet letters and trim on the rear quarters.

The side trim is mounted to about 3000 holes in the body,, well maybe not that many but filling them and keeping the body decent will be an expensive task!
Decals,,, I remember running those on the front fender between the bumper and wheel in the 70s 8)

That's good! you should be about 3 turns lock to lock with the quick steer kit. mine is 16:1 box with the QS kit & it is just a tad over 3 turns. should be fun in the curves ! maybe not as much fun at city street speeds as it would be with PS.But you might look into Electric PS like Sassy/Fred did. basically just a elec motor under the dash.

Another alternative look on the trim is leave out the alum centers. Looks great on some cars! & no hole filling! :D

I’m good at grinding... and some welding lol. Yea, it will be a lot of filling holes. Several pieces of my trim is damaged. To have it repaired, replaced, anodizing stripped and repolished will be more expensive for those little pieces than my mig welder will charge me. I’ll have to stand and stare at it for a while once I get the trim off to be sure that’s the way I want to go.

Is it a big block or small block?? I wanted to represent the mercury somehow. I also got an early 260 timing cover with the breather tube, so hopefully that will work since the valve covers are solid.
