1965 Convertible Cylinder Swing Behavior

Post by kevinshi »

The 1965 convertible hydraulic cylinders do not attach to the floorplan; rather they swing freely on a pivot/bushings at the top of the cylinder.

Am I correct that the intended design (Ford Engineering) was for the cylinders to swing into the oblong hole within the upper sheet metal component “Gusset (Floor Side Member to Wheelhouse) Upper” (MPC 103A18-9)? (See below picture/illustration(s)).

Has anyone had success in getting the cylinders to swing freely into those gusset slots (vs. binding on either side of the gussets)?
