Hey guys, I’ve been having a lot of issues with my voltage regulator. Replaced it 3 times now and they seem to keep burning out. Is there a way to eliminate this completely or maybe a recommendation on a brand that is heavy duty? Any help is appreciated!

Find the source of the problem; check all connections to the battery and alternator for corrosion and tight fit, especially the ground wires.

Re: Voltage regulator down!
I eliminated mine by using a one wire alternator in a Ford case from Summit. I mounted it and ran a heavy cable to the battery side of the solenoid. Been like this for 29 years no issues.

Hey Boss, could you show me a picture of how you ran the wiring from the alternator to the solenoid? I might try this cuz I’m tired of having battery draining and voltage regulator issues. Thanks for the info!

It is hard to see, but it is the thick black cable from the solenoid to alternator below the red line I have drawn on the photo. Tomorrow I will get a better picture, today is my oldest daughters birthday so I have been gone all day.

Great photo. Mine is the same setup but I have other wires zip tied to my power cable.Joe Travers wrote: ↑Wed Oct 18, 2023 12:40 pmHere's the one-wire on my '63, Matt. It's 60A Otter Zone generic thing.
I don't have schematic for '65. The hot wire to the horn relay on my car is mounted to + side of solenoid, I'm assuming.
My voltmeter is run off of ignition switch.
