Re: Build thread: Pics of the 65 Cyclone.
I have been away from the board for a while and just starting back on my 65. I want to say I really like what you are doing with the front suspension and engine bay.
Only use the brakes to stop and get gas.

I have a question about your headers . Were the header clearance issues more with motor mounts or steering rack with the store bought headers? I was going to run a Motor plate instead of motor mounts.

These headers dont exist in any store. My dad and I built them specifically for this car.StPro wrote:I have a question about your headers . Re: Build thread: Pics of the 65 Cyclone.
Havent had much time to do anything to the cyclone lately. Today I mocked up the tires i plan to use on the rear. Place a fender loosely on, and installed a rear wheel and tire onto the front. 17x9 with 275/40/17 tire, 6" backspace. The wheels physically fit in the tub with the stock length rear and 1/4" spacer, but they do contact the rear springs. Going to have to do some work to get them to fit. Most likely a narrower leaf. Probably 2" instead of the stock 2.5". The wheels fit the fron no problem, but the wheel isnt large enough in diameter to fit the 9" wheel. Hits the tie rod. With tie rod removed, wheel fits great with no spacer needed. Going to have the wheel narrowed 1" to start, and run a 245/45/17 tire. Keep in mind, this large of wheel and tire combo only works with the coil over strut front suspension that eliminates the upper control arm.

Its as close to Olive Mist metallic as i could custom tint. The car was painted with waterbased PPG envirobase about 8 years ago, before it was even introduced in Western Canada. My work was a Beta test shop for PPG and the color library at the HQ in the US hadnt formulated the color yet from the old solvent based formulas.poboyjo65 wrote:Looking great! Thanks. They are 2003 mustang cobra 10th anniversary replica wheels by ford racing. The fronts are at the wheel shop getting narrowed right now. The grey and machined lip works well with the green and the stainless and chrome, I think.ec164 wrote:I really like the Green and those wheels....Nice.........................Al

Re: Build thread: Pics of the 65 Cyclone.
5 year update.
Hey guys. Been away from the forum for quite some time. Got quite a bit of work done on the cyclone. The engine bay has been bodyworked and painted, the exhaust has been finished, bell housing and trans have been painted, engine installed, headers coated, 4 link finished and powder coated, brakes installed, Dakota digital dash fitted into the comet cluster, started building a custom console, started on the wiring, started on the HVAC, Nu Relics power window regulators installed. the car is on the home stretch of completion. Still plenty of work left to do. Currently working on building a efi fuel tank from scratch that will hold about 26 gallons of fuel. Will try and post pics, says files are to large to host so I have to find a place to host them
